Easter Egg with no holes

April 12, 2019

This year I took my egg preparation and coloring to the next level with real eggs. I emptied the eggs, covered the holes and decorated them. If you want to know how, you are in the right place:

Although we can use hard boiled eggs to decorate,  but using only the shell and covering the holes, make our decorated eggs last longer without funny smell. Also not showing any holes means unlimited ways to decorate.

All you need is:
  • Eggs - emptied, drained & dried
  • Drywall Spackling repair paste
  • Fine sand paper or a towel
If you need to know how to prep the eggs, check out my other post HERE. Otherwise, if you have the egg shells ready, all you need to do is to take a small amount of spackling paste with your fingers and cover the holes.

The spacking paste that I'm using is DAP DRYDex Spackling with unique dry time colour indicator which can be bought from Homedepot or even Amazon. This paste comes in purple but turns snow white when it is dry.

And after you covered the holes with spackling paste, leave them to dry for an hour (or till the paste turns white). If there are any bumps or imperfections, use a piece of fine sand paper or a damp towel to gently remove the extra paste.

If you used sand paper then you are all done, but if you used damp towel - like me- then let it dry once again and you are ready to decorate your awesome looking eggs :)

Oh, by the way, if you know of any other celebration other than Easter that involves painted eggs, please leave it in the comments. I would love to know :)
